Pioneer Center Dining Canopy

The Pioneer Center Dining Canopy serves as an extension of shelter provided by the indoor lounge and dining spaces. As an abstraction of a trellis structure, the canopy, with its integrated lighting and vegetation, projects the southern tier’s natural environment onto a tangible surface within reach of the occupant. The canopy presents a celebratory entrance to campus life implied by its engaging dual-winged form. Although not a complete enclosure, with the canopy meeting the plane of interaction through integrated planter beds, it remains grounded and reinforces a human scale throughout.
